For nail bars & nail technicians

An hour at your table. Enough time to change someone's life.

Your clients sit with you for an hour, sometimes more. And in that time, things come out. They're going through a divorce. They're scared about court. They can't afford a solicitor and feel completely stuck.

You don't need to solve it for them. But knowing one thing — that McKenzie Friends exist — means you can point them somewhere that might actually help.

Find a McKenzie Friend

What is a McKenzie Friend?

A McKenzie Friend is someone who supports a person going through family court — attending hearings with them, helping them understand their paperwork, making sure they are as prepared as possible. They are not a solicitor. They do not give legal advice. But they are someone who knows the process, knows what to expect, and sits beside you so you are not facing it alone.

Most people going through family court do not know McKenzie Friends exist. They assume their only option is a solicitor they cannot afford — or going it completely alone.

That assumption costs people. And the people most likely to break it are the ones they trust — like you.

The one thing you can say

You are not expected to know about family law. This is just one sentence — and it can open a door for someone who didn't know the door existed.

"There are people called McKenzie Friends who can go to court with you and help you through it. They're not solicitors but they know the process and they cost a lot less. You can find them online."

That is enough. You are not breaking anyone's confidence — you are just sharing information. And for the right person, in the right moment, it could be exactly what they needed to hear.

We hear a lot in this job. And one of the most common things we hear is people going through divorce or separation who feel completely alone — and think they can't get any help because they can't afford a solicitor.

We want you to know about something called a McKenzie Friend. They're not a solicitor, but they can sit with you in court, help you with your paperwork, and make sure you actually understand what's happening. They're affordable. They exist. And most people have never heard of them.

Please note: My role is to provide practical, process‑focused support. I do not give legal advice. Legal advice is often needed at key points, and I regularly encourage people to seek advice from a family solicitor. Many clients work with me alongside their solicitor, using legal advice for legal decisions and practical support to manage the process around it.
