For hair salons & stylists
You hear things in your salon that most people never hear.
Someone settles into your chair and starts talking. They are going through a divorce. They are scared. They cannot afford a solicitor. They do not know what to do next — and they are asking you because they trust you.
You do not need to have the answers. But knowing one thing — that McKenzie Friends exist — could make a real difference to someone sitting in your chair today.
Find a McKenzie FriendWhat is a McKenzie Friend?
A McKenzie Friend is someone who supports a person going through family court — sitting with them at hearings, helping them understand their paperwork, making sure they are prepared. They are not a solicitor. They do not give legal advice. But they can make the difference between someone walking into court alone and terrified, and someone walking in with someone beside them who knows what is happening.
Most people going through divorce or separation do not know McKenzie Friends exist. They think their only options are a solicitor they cannot afford or facing court entirely alone.
They are wrong — and you could be the person who tells them that.
The one thing you can say
You do not need to know anything about family law. You do not need to get involved. You just need to know this:
"Have you heard of a McKenzie Friend? They can go to court with you and help you through it — and they cost a lot less than a solicitor. There's a directory online where you can find one near you."

That is it. That is the whole thing. You are not breaking any confidence by mentioning it, and you are not giving legal advice. You are just pointing someone toward a door they did not know existed.

🪮 Something we want our clients to know.
We hear a lot in this salon. And one of the things we hear most is people going through divorce or separation who feel completely alone with it — and think they can't afford any help.
There's something called a McKenzie Friend. They're not a solicitor, but they can sit with you in court, help you understand your paperwork, and make sure you're not walking in there on your own. They cost a fraction of what a solicitor costs.
Most people have never heard of them. Now you have.

Why salons matter in this
You are trusted
People tell their stylist things they haven't told their family. That trust is real and it matters.
You listen
You're not rushing the conversation. You have time to actually hear what someone is going through.
You reach everyone
Your clients are everyone — all ages, all backgrounds, all circumstances. So is the family court.
